Even if I do get something up and running I seriously doubt I will get a good playerbase involved (which is kinda important). Still though, I cannot deny the idea lingers in the back of my mind!

Re: Hell Yeah!

What the heck! its alive! Keep up the good work. It's nice to find someone who also realises the world is full of ass holes who haven't got a f-ing clue. And thanks for the SMS.
We should appoint to meet some day; it'll be good to see you again. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to your next post!

S.L. Though my blog may indicate otherwise, I'm doing very well! I've been doing a lot of programming and gaming lately and now that my dad has officially retired we've suddenly gained an actual living room! But that's for another post, I hope you're well too. I also owe you another set for apologies for still not returning your books... If it helps, I think about it every day :)

Now for your question, I was so inspired by it that I'm going to answer this in a whole post of itself. Thanks for commenting on this! Coincidently, I was just wondering how to people involved in the the discussion and here we are! The post should be up in a few hours and again, thanks!

Re: The GIP (Guild of Incompetent Programmers)

Hello, Meticulous!

Been a while - you doing well?

Now to get on-topic: you say OOP is about hiding mutable state. Isn't it about _encapsulating_ mutable state?
Maybe it's just a matter of wording - but 'hidden', in my dictionary, means that it's totally out of reach. Encapsulated state (again, in my dictionary) can be modified, but only through controlled operations.

Regards!

S.L. Just place the code inside a <pre class="brush:brushname"> tag replacing brushname with one of the aliases in the table at http://code.google.com/p/syntaxhighlighter/wiki/Languages.

The one below has
class="brush:csharp"
and although it is not as fancy as I hoped it would be it seems reasonably functional:

public interface IFoo
{
public IEnumerable<Bar> Bars
{
get;
set;
}

    public abstract Bar ExecuteOnce(string message);

    public IEnumerable<Bar> ExecuteManyManyManyTimes(int times, string message) {
var theBar = new Bar();
for(var i = 0; i < times; i++) {
var theBars = Bars.Where(bar => bar != theBar).Select(bar => bar.Fubar());
foreach(var bar in theBars)
{
yield return bar;
}
}
}
}

Just keep in mind to replace those < and >'s with
&lt;
and
&gt;
respectively otherwise your comment still won't look right.

Basic markup is apparently also allowed (quite a lot of tags actually) but please be gentle.

Re: Syntax Highlighting Test

@Danthar: I will try to allow for more markup in the comment box as well as some info on how to use it but I have a deep passion for rich text boxes on the web as they never work really well, are too slow, prone to produce evil markup and usually a bitch to to work with. You know I hate Word (and word processing programs in general) to begin with so why bother to reproduce something like that on the web? I'd rather educate my readers in the virtues of markup languages because everyone knows they are the only way forward, right?

Re: To: dick

@M: That is hilarious!
